How to Play Puns of Anarchy
Any Questions?
Is the game appropriate for everyone?
That all depends on you and who you play with. Besides a couple of PG-13 Category Cards (which you can easily remove if you like!), Puns of Anarchy is as dirty or clean as the players make it.
What is a pun?
Puns are wordplay jokes that exploit different meanings, spellings, or contexts of words or phrases. While playing, you can change as little or as much of each card as you like to make a pun, but Puns of Anarchy works best when players verbally vandalize something that’s well-known, but it remains recognizable to others.
How do the cards work?
The Punnable Cards have a dry-erase coating on them which allows players to write directly on them, and erase their creations at the end of each round. The cards are durable and ready to stand up to hundreds of hours of your puns.
Aren't there only like, 2-3 puns you can make with a band, movie, etc.?
So glad you asked. It's definitely true that many bands, movies and more aren't great for punning, but we've spent hours and hours compiling and testing famous titles to make sure the ones in the game have nearly limitless potential (puntential?)
But, you still might look at a card like "Saving Private Ryan" and say... okay, what can we really do with that? Here's just a taste:
- Shaving Private Ryan
- Engraving Private Ryan
- Shaming Private Ryan
- Saving Pirate Ryan
- Paving Private Ryan
- Saving Private Scions
And that's just changing a few letters! A punning guru might come up with gems like:
- Shaving Privates, Cryin'
- Waving at Primates Ryan
- Saving Printers Cyan (okay, that one's a stretch)
How many players?
The game is designed for 3-6 players, but you can easily play "Party Mode" with 7+ players — directions for this gameplay version are included in the instructions!
